Janet was born at Mulga Bore in 1973. She is the daughter of Sammy Pitjara and Margaret Golder. She comes from a large family of artist she is the Granddaughter of Old Henry Pitjara, Angelinea Ngale and Polly Ngale, Emily and Kudditji Kngwarreye. She now lives in Alice Spings but regularly travles back to her country. She is married to Ronnie Bird whose mother is Ada Bird and they have 4 children. Janet is a developing artist and paints Bush Yam Dreaming.
